Did you know green vegetables are immediately yucky? Yep, this is true in the eyes of my 8 year old. If my 8 year old son has any knowledge of a green vegetable in a dish, you might as well forget him eating it. It doesn’t matter if he has never tasted it, he won’t just simply because it’s green. I’m sure you know the struggle.
How do you get kids to eat vegetables?
I figured out one simple trick to get him to start eating his vegetables. Camouflage them!!!
Yes, camouflage them. If they can’t see them, what they don’t know doesn’t hurt them!
I was making the Pioneer Woman’s sloppy joes. (Oh so good, you should try them!). She uses onion, garlic, and GREEN pepper. Instead of chopping them by hand where you can see the small diced squares, I pulverized them.
Yep! I put them in my mini-food processor (I have a Cuisinart Mini Prep Plus) and pulverized them. Once they were in the meat sauce, you couldn’t see them. He ate every single bite.
Now I utilize the pulverizing method on anything that I can! Spaghetti sauce, veggie lasagna, you name it.
I hope this helps you feed your picky eaters some veggies!!
