This article has some great stocking stuffer ideas including a free stocking stuffer printable for planning!
I grew up with a dad who LOVES Christmas. It is his favorite holiday. It was a HUGE event for us, even when we were at our poorest. They made sure our Christmas was special. It wasn’t just about the presents, granted we always managed to have a lot of them, but the build-up of the event. Christmas to him meant all of us being together – more than anything.
One thing we always had in our tradition was our Christmas stockings. We didn’t have a mantle growing up, but we would lovingly place them right under the tree so that Santa could see them.
Stockings just have a feeling of love, warmth, and coziness.
What is a good stocking stuffer?
To me, the perfect Christmas stocking stuffer is something that is simple, useful, or whimsical. However, it shouldn’t take away from the major presents. We always look in our stockings last, so I like to think of it as the cherry on top of the gifts.
I also like the idea of using a small stocking to hold a gift for friends or co-workers as well. It’s a gift-wrapping all by itself.
Some ideas for stocking stuffers:
- fruit (oranges work great)
- gift cards
- hair accessories
- small toys, like matchbox cars
- dollar tree items
- small ornaments
- nail polish
When you are considering a stocking stuffer, you want to personalize it to the person you are buying for! What interests do they have? What small items would they enjoy?

Stocking Stuffer Planning
I love buying small things throughout the year as I run across them! Sometimes, if you are buying stocking stuffers as the year goes on, it can be easy to lose track of what you have bought.
I’ve made a printable to keep up with my stocking stuffers. It allows you to write who the stocking stuffer was for, what it is, and the price as well. It’s a great way to keep track of what you have.
