I remember when I was at my heaviest. I felt like I was stuck. I wasn’t sure where to even begin. I had gone for so long neglecting myself, I wasn’t even sure that I deserved to lose weight. Yes, that is right I felt like I didn’t even deserve to lose it. I was my own worst enemy when it came to my health.
The event that triggered my change was an episode at work. I had a very sugary par for the course breakfast. I loved donuts, honeybuns, and pastries. I forget exactly what my poison of choice was that morning, but I had eaten at my desk as usual. By 11 am, I was so sick. I was shaking, sweaty, foggy headed, and just overall SICK. I had spiked my glucose way up, and then it had crashed. My body could no longer take the torture and I was starting to have hypoglycemic episodes. This was the worst yet. I had a big lunch of chicken strips and fries (yep, more carbs), and felt bad the rest of the day.
I was pretty sure I wad diabetic. My family is a long line of diabetics. I had some labs drawn.
My triglycerides were sky high and my LDL cholesterol was soaring. I was a candidate for medication. While I wasn’t diabetic yet, I was launching into prediabetes.
